Products Worth the Investment: Why Makeup Brushes are Worth the Investment

Hello there!

Have you ever wondered what beauty products, or products in general, are worth the investment and what products are worth saving a couple dollars on?
Today marks the start of a new series where I will do reviews on products and share my opinions on them and whether I think they are worth the investment or not.

Today, let's talk makeup brushes..
If you're someone who isn't serious about their makeup and who views makeup as 'just another thing' and who doesn't view makeup as a form of art and a way of expressing yourself, then you might disagree with me on the thought of makeup brushes being worth the investment.
But let me share with you what I think and my past experiences with makeup brushes.

Although I personally wouldn't spend $40-60 on a single brush, I wouldn't spend $2 on a makeup brush from a brand I have never heard of before. Also, before I purchase any makeup item, I do extensive research on it (I thoroughly read other people's review on the product and I also search for the best places to get them for less...even if I end up only saving a couple dollars, a little savings is better than none!)...that's also one of the main reasons why I end up really enjoying most (if not all) of the makeup I purchase.

Makeup brushes are your best friends!! Whether you're a beginner, an aspiring MUA, or a pro, having a good quality makeup brush set will change your makeup life and will make you not want to ever go back to using those cheap makeup sponges/brushes that come with products when you first purchase them.

Savings...
Sure, I could save a couple dollars and buy the cheap drugstore brush, but compared to a high-end, good quality brush, the makeup application of the cheaper brush tends to be unimpressive and often the bristles are prickly and will only hurt your eye. In the long run, you would actually end up spending more money than saving with the cheap drugstore brush because you'd have to replace it within a couple months of use.
I'm not at all saying to stay away from drugstore brushes, that's not the point I'm trying to get across. Sure, drugstore brushes are great for short term uses, but not if you're looking to get a long-term use out of it. Cheap makeup brushes are cheap because they're made of cheap materials, therefore tend to fall apart easily overtime, whereas high-end brushes will last you years!
For the most part, I believe with makeup brushes, you get what you paid for!

Application...
As previously mentioned, when you're using good quality brushes to apply your makeup, the application process goes on so much faster and easier and the outcome of your makeup would look so much more flawless and finished.
Some makeup brushes that I use are from e.l.f. cosmetics and Real Techniques.
Some brands that I know that carry great makeup brushes, but haven't tried for myself are from Sonia KashukBH CosmeticsCoastal ScentsSigmaMACBobbi BrownNARS...the list goes on and on and on...

Brush care...
Taking good care of your brushes, such as washing/cleaning them on a regular basis will really increase the longevity of your makeup brushes. Make sure to wash them with a makeup brush shampoo (avoid products containing alcohol as they cause breakage on the brush hairs) or use any type of gentle soap (such as baby soap/shampoo) and make sure you lay them on their side when you dry them...if you dry them upright, the water will seep through the ferrule and make its way to the glue which will cause your brush hairs to shed off.

Overall, I think makeup brushes are definitely worth the investment as they are your best friends when it comes to applying a flawless face of makeup!

Make sure to share your thoughts and opinions on whether or not you believe makeup brushes are worth investing on or not.

Thanks for reading!
